Hello Lovely People,

I'm so glad you're here!

Born and bred in sunny Sydney, I am proud to welcome you to my private counselling practice based in Marrickville, which incidentally is ranked #2 as the coolest suburb in Australia and #33 in the world! (TimeOut 2022).

It's safe to say that I am in good company. This first blog gives me an opportunity to introduce myself.

I'm Mackie Demirel, and I am the proud owner of this creative and calm space. It gives me great pleasure to invite and welcome you to this warm and comfortable little haven that I've created.

Purpose

I get it, I really do. I understand how the thought of therapy may be confronting and uncomfortable. It's all part and parcel of your growth.

Let's take a moment to see growth from the perspective of a seed. A seed is almost always hard and unforgiving. What happens when we invest in that seed and create an environment conducive to germination? Water it, nurture it, protect it... Voila! We have a seedling! All within the blink of an eye (or at least a few weeks...)

However, what we don't see is deep within the soil. Dark, quiet and almost certainly lonely. This is similarly what happens in therapy. We visit unchartered thoughts and emotions in a guided and safe way. Give yourself the permission to be nurtured and to grow. That very darkness has so much to tell you.

My own previous lived experience with therapy enables me to meet you with an understanding of where you are.

The purpose of this blog is to connect, create awareness, and to share knowledge with you all. I believe that unshared knowledge is like a vine that doesn't yield fruit. It still has purpose because it's a vine, but it struggles to transform through rejuvenation to thrive. And, to thrive means to multiply, to share and to grow.

Not 'Good-Bye' but 'Good-Hello'

It's a 'Good-Hello' rather than a 'Good-Bye'. I'm really excited to connect with you.

This is a space where taboo doesn't exist, where judgement disintegrates and no topic is off-limits.

For now, I bid you a Good-Hello until next time. Remember I'm only as far away as your next session to help you discover a better you - a better life.
